Kronan Warship
The Kronan warship sank on June 1, 1676 in a naval battle outside Öland. The wreck was discovered in 1980. Since then marine archeological explorations have been conducted at the site every summer. More than 25,000 objects have been recovered. The Kronan Exhibition at Kalmar County Museum is constantly showing exciting new finds that reveal what life was like onboard. A treasury shows Sweden's largest gold coin discovery and the country's largest marine silver coin discovery - both recovered from the Kronan warship!
