Nybro - The town in the Swedish Glass Kingdom!

Where roads and rivers meet, people build bridges. Here, they called it Nybro (literally, New Bridge).

The bridge was built at the start of the 1800s when the new town´s first industrial building, a tannery, was built by the water that was then a gushing brook and now still flows through the heart of the town.

An industrial society developed around this tannery and is based on the forest figure from Orrefors, a wooden floor from Kährs or writing paper and envelopes from Bong Ljungdahl.

Our nature offers varying sceneries from complete wilderness ro rural vitas of long-time cultivation, fruits that we reap from the hard labourof ancient farmers in fields and woods. The provience of Småland is known for its redhouse villages connected by winding roads bordered by lichen-grey stonewalls. Green pastures and small fields open up the wooded landscape and the white trunks of birches blend with the heavier green of spruce and fir. We recommend a scenic trip to Lake Allgunnen and the Alster river, but everywhere in Nybro you are close to nature, with glittering water in lakes and brooks. Easily accessible is our leisure area of Svartbäcksmåla with multiple possibilities.
